Open Swage Socket

Open Swage Socket

Swaged sockets are pressed onto wire rope using special dies. These type of sockets are fatigue and breakage resistant at 100% of the rope’s breaking strength when applied with the proper sized dies. Swaged sockets are not recommended for fiber core or lang lay wire ropes. An open swage socket has a bolt or pin which cab attach to rigging such as a hook block.

* Maximum Proof Load shall not exceed 50% of XXIP rope catalog breaking strength.

As advertised in Crosby General Catalogue 2009 Page 42, and previously in Crosby General Catalogue 2006 Page 38.

Where is the products' country of origin?

Answer: Most of the products are from China, Korea, Germany, Ukraine, and all of them are of the most reputable factories with quality control certificate.

Does Hardwire take the responsibility for shipping products?

Answer: If the customer determines how to send the products and cargo, all responsibility is on the customer, but if Hardwire determines how to send and transport the products, it assumes all responsibilities and any damages.

How long does it take to send and deliver the product?

Answer: Since the main import of Hardwire is wire rope, all types of wire ropes are almost always available in stock and delivery of goods is made instantly. Delivery for all products in all categories is immediate. If some items are not available, the delivery time will be a maximum of one week.

How is the after-sales service?

Answer: Hardwire's after-sales service varies by product type. For example, for electric and manual cranes, Hardwire offers a one-year warranty and a period of 5 year after-sales service.

  • Forged from special bar quality carbon steel, suitable for cold forming.
  • Swage Socket terminations have an efficiency rating of 100% based on the catalog strength of wire rope.
  • Hardness controlled by spheroidize annealing.
  • Stamp for identification after swaging without concern for fractures (as per directions in Wire Rope End Terminations User’s Manual).
  • Swage sockets incorporate a reduced machined area of the shank which is equivalent to the proper “After Swage” dimension. Before swaging, this provides for an obvious visual difference in the shank diameter. After swaging, a uniform shank diameter is created allowing for a QUIC-CHECK® and permanent visual inspection opportunity.
  • Designed to quickly determine whether the socket has been through the swaging operation and assist in field inspections, it does not eliminate the need to perform standard production inspections which include gauging for the proper “After Swage” dimensions or proof loading.
